Dura Cord Hammocks: Cotton Soft Yet Weather Resistant

Dura cord hammocks are rope hammocks made of a special synthetic yarn called DuraCord®. DuraCord is manufactured to have the feel of cotton with the durability and weather resistance of polyester. It is so similar to cotton in look and feel that it is said to have fooled textile experts. A dura cord hammock is excellent and highly sought-after as an outdoor hammock because of its outstanding weather resistance. In fact the yarn was originally created for hammock manufacturing. DuraCord yarn has added UV ray stabilizers that resist colorfading, and built-in anti-microbials that block rot, mold and mildew.

A major problem in using hammocks outdoors is that many of them simply can’t endure being left outside for extended periods of time without deteriorating. Cotton hammocks are most comfortable but are the most prone to mildew, rot and color fading. Hammocks woven from other synthetics can feel abrasive and uncomfortable. A DuraCord hammock’s color will not fade in sunlight because the color is manufactured into the very fibers. DuraCord will not absorb water; instead it carries water away from the body for a cooling effect, which means hammocks made from the yarn are quick drying (good for pool areas) and stain resistant. DuraCord resists abrasion and rough wear, yet maintains its soft feel and texture. Cleaning is easy – simply wash as needed with mild soap and water. DuraCord is also available as a woven textile fabric used in outdoor and indoor furniture, including fabric hammocks, outdoor cushions and rugs.
